Sto Corp. Now Offers Two Insulation Choices for StoTherm® ci XPS System

Sto announced today that the company is now partnered with two of the insulation industry’s leading vendors, Owens Corning and Dow, as suppliers for a key component of its technically advanced StoTherm ci XPS exterior wall system. This means that Sto customers will now have two options when choosing the durable, high-R-value, extruded polystyrene (XPS) rigid foam insulation that resists water absorption and significantly contributes to the energy-efficiency of the Sto ci wall.
StoTherm ci XPS is an integrated, continuous-insulation wall system with a fluid-applied StoGuard® air and moisture barrier that is air-and moisture controlled, thermally-efficient and highly durable due to the XPS insulation. It helps cut energy costs, reduces maintenance expenses and adds value by offering designers a variety of aesthetic choices thanks to a wide range of decorative and protective finish appearances (such as EIFS, Stucco, Limestone, Brick and smooth- or water-repellant surfaces), available in virtually unlimited colors.
The high R-Value of the XPS insulation board facilitates the design of thinner walls, and its low deflection value of L/240 enables lighter construction – reducing overall weight and cost per square foot.
“We are pleased to have both Owens Corning and Dow as a partners in providing a key component of our continuous insulation system,” said Brian Chang, Director of Product Marketing and Channel Management for StoCorp. “The arrangement will be highly beneficial to our customers, who will now be able to specify which insulation vendor best meets their needs.”

Sto Will Attend PCBC in San Francisco June 21-23

Dedicated to advancing the art, science and business of housing, PCBC is the largest homebuilding trade show representing the West Coast region of the U.S.

Launched in 1959 as a small educational conference at the Sheraton Palace Hotel in San Francisco, PCBC is now an annual two-day conference, product display and business exchange and is open to anyone professionally involved in the building industry, including builders, developers, architects, remodelers, designers, contractors, dealers/distributors and suppliers/manufacturers.

In the past, PCBC was an acronym for “Pacific Coast Builders Conference”. Over time the name became an inaccurate reflection of the audience, as the show now draws attendees from all over the United States, Canada, Mexico and more than 25 other countries. Today the show is known simply as PCBC.

PCBC alternates each year between San Francisco and San Diego and has been endorsed as the official show of Leading Builders of America (LBA), whose membership includes 21 of the largest publicly and privately held homebuilders in the nation.

Sto will be in Booth 405. We hope to see you there!

The American Institute of Architects Convention will be in Philadelphia this year.

See You at AIA

Sto will be featuring several next-generation building products including StoVentec, a new ventilated rainscreen cladding system and StoGuard® air and moisture barrier at the annual AIA Convention Expo to be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania May 19-21. Sto will also be displaying a library of sample products, a picture gallery of Sto projects around the world, and a touch screen showcase of Sto’s many systems and solutions.

Another highlight of Sto’s booth (#2251) will be an inspirational mural created on-site by a local Philadelphia artist. Last year, two local Atlanta artists painted murals in the company’s booth using Sto coating products and it was such a compelling attraction that Sto decided to repeat the live-action artistry featuring a local fine art painter. The combined display of problem-solving products, well-executed projects and creative energy will help demonstrate Sto’s value to the architectural community. The message? We help you realize your vision.

Sto Corp Launches Next-Gen StoCoat® Lotusan® Coating

Sto Corp is pleased to announce the launch the next generation of our highly successful StoCoat® Lotusan® coating. The evolution of this product supports Sto Corp.’s effort to delight our customers and grow our successful functional coatings products line.

StoCoat Lotusan is based on the science of biomimicry – building products based on designs from the natural world. It employs BIONICS™ technology modeled on the microstructure of the lotus leaf. Engineered by Sto, this innovative coating has super-hydrophobic properties and is ideal for new construction and recoat projects over concrete, stucco, EIFS, and fiber cement board substrates due to its high water vapor permeability.

The tinting formulas for the new product remain the same; however, since the formulation is slightly different, efforts should be made on job sites to use current and newer batches on different elevations or at architectural breaks, since the color may vary slightly where the two materials come together. Throughout this transition, you will still be able to order the old product to finish ongoing projects. Pricing remains the same.

The new, next generation version of StoCoat Lotusan will have white lids during the transition and a sticker on the label of each pail that says “Next Generation”. Here is a table of the new item numbers for the new product:

The dark base materials are not included in this announcement. Those materials already incorporate the next-generation technology.

Please contact your sales representative or your customer service representative through this transition if you have any questions. Also, please work to use up your old inventory of the current formulation; Sto Corp. will not be accepting returns of the old product since it remains usable.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in making the transition to this next -generation product!
