DescriptionStoTherm and Sto Therm NExT Their Effects on Energy Consumption Reduction. By Chris Norris, P.E, P.Eng, LEED AP, CEI. With recent changes in energy codes continuous insulation is now required in six out of eight U.S. climate zones. Air barriers are starting to be adopted on a state by state basis, but are not currently required in most states. This paper presents a study that evaluates the relative benefits of EIFS continuous insulation and EIFS continuous insulation combined with an air barrier over baseline energy code compliant assemblies.
