STO CORP. WELLNESS PROGRAM INCREASES
EMPLOYEE PRODUCTIVITY AND OVERALL HEALTH

Program has seen significant growth and now a waiting list

ATLANTA – (September 20, 2007) Sto Corp., the innovative world leader in cladding, coating, and restoration systems, is becoming a leader in employee health and fitness. The company started a corporate wellness program at its two Atlanta facilities for its more than 100+ employees.

Since its trial program, which began in January 2006 for weight loss and overall health benefits, the program has seen a great increase. Sto Corp. hired Mike Finch to begin the pilot program of 10 volunteers. Finch has experience in health club settings, private personal training studios, and clinical/rehabilitation environments.

According to Finch, the program began with a 12-week trial period of one-on-one personal training for these 10 volunteers. He met with each volunteer employee to discuss personal fitness goals, health and exercise history, exercise demonstration, workout development, and fitness assessments. The initial results after the first 12 weeks were great, with most employees seeing an increase in energy, flexibility, muscular and cardiovascular endurance, and strength, along with a decrease in total body fat.

“All employees are required to have a full medical release prior to beginning the program. They must wear heart rate monitors while training to help with weight loss, cardiovascular training, and for safety measures,” said Finch.

This program is spearheaded by Sto Corp.’s President, David Boivin. “We had a small space set up on site at our corporate office and plant location with basic equipment,” said Boivin. “With the positive results we’ve seen in this program thus far, we have renovated the area to accommodate more equipment and more workout space for our employees.”

Several employees have seen impressive results, losing 10 – 15 pounds and in other cases more than 25 pounds. One employee, Cindy Churchill, has seen dramatic results, losing nearly 60 pounds since the program began.

Currently there are more than 30 participants in the program, with more on a waiting list. There has also been a significant increase in the usage of the workout rooms at both locations by employees involved in the Finch Fitness Program (aptly named the Finch Fitness Fanatics), as well as others trying to achieve some of the same goals, according to Finch.

“We are thrilled to see so many of our employees taking advantage of this program and the results have been tremendous,” said Boivin. “Since the program has been implemented we have seen an increase in employee morale, productivity and employee health.”

According to Finch, corporate wellness program research has shown that on average companies that invest in a program typically see an average of $2.30 (or greater in some cases) savings for each employee for every dollar spent on the program. This includes money saved from employee absenteeism, sick days, lower health and insurance costs, and an increase in employee productivity.

What’s next for the employees of Sto Corp.? Finch is offering periodic cardiovascular challenges for all employees in order to increase employee participation and health and fitness awareness, and Sto is participating in the Kaiser Permanente 5K Corporate Run/Walk late September for the first time this year.
